Green Lake was once the summer destination for Seattle's early settlers. Today, it is one of the most highly desireable neighborhoods in Seattle, with commute times to downtown Seattle of only ten to fifteen minutes.
Today, Green Lake is a recreation Mecca for local residents and Seattlites alike. Its 2.8-mile trail around the lake is used frequently for biking, running, and inline skating. On the lake itself you may swim, canoe, kayak, and windsurf.
There is also an indoor swimming pool, as well as tennis courts, and facilities for golf, soccer, baseball, and basketball. An estimated one million people a year use the park.
Homes here are predominantly single-family residences, including some Tudors and bungalows, many which maintain their original details and charm. In comparison with other neighborhoods, Green Lake has a higher concentration of resident four-year institution graduates.
